Holidays are the most awaited events in someone’s life. After all, holidays are translated into many exciting things, like traveling, camping, swimming, and many others. But you know, the exciting moments can be ruined if you get sick on holiday. And getting sick on holiday is actually more common than you think.
You’re More than 100 Percent More Likely to Catch a Cold on a Plane than in Daily Life
Whether the cause is indulging in more unhealthy beverages than usual, getting too tired when traveling, or sleeping too little, there are many reasons for the decreasing of your body performance on holidays. You’re more prone to get ill, especially when you’re traveling. It’s already stated by a study that a person is more likely to catch a cold on a plane than in daily life. Thus, to prevent yourself from ruining the exciting moments of your life, you need to stay healthy even during the holidays. How to do that? Just follow these steps!
Eat nutritious breakfast
You need a great energy booster to have long-lasting fun throughout the day. For that, you need to eat a nutritious breakfast. A healthy breakfast consists of complex carbs, fiber, and protein. You can have it by eating whole-grain cereal, eggs, peanut butter, skim milk, low-fat yogurt, or fresh fruits.
Prepare healthy drinks
Besides eating a nutritious breakfast, you also need to mind your drinks. Of course, water is the best option you have. But, sometimes we want to drink something more flavorful, especially on holidays. If that’s the case, you still can drink something healthy other than water, such as low-fat milk, green tea, hot chocolate, or juices from your favorite fruits.
Eat healthy foods
Even though you might think that it’s not fun if you restrict yourself too much on holidays, but unleashing all of your gluttons might be a bad idea. You need to be careful about what you put into your body, mainly because you may spend more energy than usual because of your excitement. Some healthy foods you may enjoy even on your holidays are a salad, roasted or boiled vegetables of your choice (create a creamy sauce as the accompaniment!), or grilled steaks.
Eat dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate
Even though you need to stay healthy during the holidays, you still can eat some sweets occasionally. But you can choose a healthier alternative instead. For example, you can eat dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. Dark chocolate has more cocoa and less sugar than milk chocolate. Besides, dark chocolate is a potent antioxidant. That’s why you should eat it!
Walk for at least 15 minutes
Even though the holiday is an excellent time to laze around, you need to keep your body physically active to stay healthy. If you’re not in the mood for exercise, you can just find a time to walk around your neighborhood at least 15 minutes. Who knows you may find something interesting to see while walking around!
